The essence of Froots
Froots is an online knitwear brand created by me (Charlotte Darrousez), based in London, United Kingdom. It focuses on creating handmade knitted garments that reflect an appreciation of slow fashion and the time and patience pieces of clothing might take to create. The process focuses on close contact with materials which buyers are encouraged to appreciate when making a purchase. Along the path to creating this shop, a strong appreciation of friendships and human connections has been a driver for me, and I hope that this becomes apparent through the brand and that its importance to me can spread positivity alongside the clothes in themselves <3
After graduating from Central Saint Martins (London) with a BA in Graphic Communication Design, I have decided to pursue knitwear design with Froots by Charlotte :)

Materials
Yarn selection
In an effort to reduce its carbon footprint, the brand is on a mission to limit any use of synthetic materials in yarns. Yarn is sourced from a local yarn shop in Angel, London.
making
OG knitting machine
When I launched Froots in November 2023, all knitwear was made using a small hand-cranked knitting machine. Alhtough I've since purchased a professional knitting machine, this one is still used to make the Max Hats.
Making
Pro knitting machine
In September 2024, I invested in a professional knitting machine which I've been using to create the AW24 collection. Benefits include:
- Larger sizes available
- Tighter knitting allowing for more coverage
Refining
Finalising
Once knitted panels are made, all garments are completed by sewing different parts together.
